who we are

Here For Youth is the operating name of Islamic Network, a registered charity in England and Wales (1101603). We are the data controller for the personal information described here.

You can reach us about anything in this notice at [email protected] or by post at PO Box 2741, IG1 8BP.

By giving us your information, you confirm you are 13 or over.

what we collect and why

We only ask for what we need to do the thing you asked us to do.

donations

Your name, email, address and gift details, so we can process your donation, send a receipt and claim Gift Aid if you ask us to. Card and bank details are handled by Donorbox and its payment partners. We never see or store them.

monthly updates

Your email address, so we can send our newsletter. You can unsubscribe from any email.

contact and enquiries

Your name, email, organisation and message, so we can reply and pass your enquiry to the right person.

volunteering

Your contact details, the role you're interested in, your availability and experience, so we can consider your application and keep in touch.

free resources

Your name, email and organisation, so we can send your download links and understand who uses our resources.

EET programme

Your name, contact details and organisation when you book a discovery call or join the programme, so we can deliver training, coaching and accreditation.

We also collect some technical information automatically when you use this website, such as your IP address, browser and device, and which pages you visit. This helps us keep the site secure and see what's useful.

what we don't collect

We don't ask for sensitive information such as health, ethnicity or religious beliefs, or anything about criminal convictions. If we ever need it, we'll ask for your explicit consent first. We don't make automated decisions or build profiles about you.

our lawful reasons

UK data protection law says we need a lawful reason to use your information. Ours are:

  • Consent for our newsletter and optional cookies. You can withdraw it at any time.
  • Contract when you join a programme, book a call or download a resource you asked for.
  • Legitimate interests for running the charity well, for example keeping donor records and improving our services. We always weigh these against your rights.
  • Legal obligation where the law requires it, such as keeping Gift Aid records for HMRC or acting on a safeguarding concern.

children and young people

This website is for adults: parents, volunteers, donors and the organisations that run youth provision. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children through it.

Youth Hubs are run by local masjids and community organisations. Each one is responsible for the information it keeps about the young people who attend. We only use photos of young people where we have the right consent.

who we share it with

We never sell your information. We share it only with trusted services that help us run the charity, and only for that purpose:

  • Donorbox and its payment providers, for donations
  • Our email and office tools, for newsletters, enquiries and bookings
  • Our website host, to keep this site running
  • HMRC, if you've made a Gift Aid declaration
  • Professional advisers such as our accountants, auditors, lawyers and insurers
  • Government bodies and regulators, where the law requires it

Before we share your information with anyone for their own marketing, we'll ask for your consent. Every organisation we work with must keep your data secure and use it only as we instruct.

Some of these providers store data outside the UK. Where they do, they're covered by UK adequacy rules or approved contract terms.

emails from us

We'll only send you our updates if you've signed up, or if you've donated or asked us about our work and haven't opted out. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can email [email protected] at any time. Unsubscribing doesn't affect messages about something you've done with us, like a donation receipt.

how long we keep it

  • Donation and Gift Aid records: six years after your last gift, as HMRC requires
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe
  • Enquiries: up to two years after we last heard from you
  • Volunteer applications: twelve months if we don't take them forward
  • Programme records: for as long as your organisation is with us, then six years

keeping it safe

We have security measures in place to stop your information being lost, misused or accessed without permission. Only staff and volunteers who need it can see it, and they must keep it confidential.

If there's ever a data breach that puts you at risk, we'll tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office, as the law requires.

your rights

You can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the information we hold about you
  • correct anything that's wrong
  • delete your information or stop using it
  • stop using it for a particular purpose, including direct marketing
  • send it to you or another organisation in a usable format

Email [email protected] and we'll reply within one month. It's free. If a request is complex we may need longer, and we'll tell you if so. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, so we never give your information to the wrong person.

cookies

Cookies are small files a website saves on your device. We use essential cookies to make this site work, and, only if you agree, analytics cookies to see which pages are useful.

You can change your choice at any time from the cookie banner, or by clearing cookies in your browser.

questions and complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first at [email protected] so we can put it right. You can read our full complaints process.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk ↗︎ or on 0303 123 1113.
